About

Bacci Guitars is Bruno Bacci: a Tuscan luthier who builds electric guitars and basses by hand, one at a time.

01

The maker: Bruno Bacci

Born in 1975, Bruno Bacci comes to instruments from metallurgy, carpentry, graphic design and marketing. A guitarist first, he became a builder after a hand injury, and trained at the violin-making school of Cremona, the town where Stradivari worked three centuries earlier. That eclectic background is why a Bacci borrows as much from Italian industrial design as it does from lutherie.

His first guitar, a Telecaster he built as a young man, carried no name. He could not write Fender, because it was not their instrument. He could not write Bacci, because it was not yet his design either. That is why he began creating instruments that could only be his.

Every build starts from a sound goal, and the instrument is engineered around it. Ergonomics and weight are treated as structural decisions, not afterthoughts, so the instrument balances naturally seated and stays comfortable through a long set. Before the wood is cut, Bruno tests it through a sequence of movements that looks something like a dance, listening to the material before deciding what it will become.

Instruments with no name to hide behind, only the sound.

02

The place

Bacci is made in Tuscany, between Florence and Lucca, in a region that has been a workshop for artists since Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. The farmhouse where Bruno lives is part of a property that once belonged to Giacomo Puccini, the composer of La Boheme, Madama Butterfly and Turandot.

It is not a detail Bruno makes much of, but it fits: the house is still full of music, and visiting musicians still end up at the table. He is obsessive about his craft and about good Italian table rituals, in equal measure.

03

The workshop

Every Bacci is designed and built by hand in Tuscany. There is no production line and no showroom: each instrument is made to order, voiced, adjusted and finished by Bruno himself. From the dual-output Leonardo baritone to the Marleo bass, the Michael League signature Marlita, and the limited-edition Tosca, the whole family shares one idea, only what is necessary, made to last.

04

The experience

For a few players each year, the Bacci Experience opens the workshop doors: you join Bruno for the final stages of your build, in Tuscany, and are the first person ever to play your instrument. It is the clearest expression of what Bacci is, not a factory, a luthier.
